Candle care

Please follow the candle care tips below to ensure you get the best results from your custom made wooden wick candle.

1. It is essential that you trim your wooden wick between each use to prevent a high flame and uneven burn. To do this, once your candle is cooled and set, using a tissue between your two fingers, simply break off any charred wood by pinching the wood wick. Some charred wood will remain but all wood that needs to come away will break off easily. Then simply ensure that no wick trimmings are left on the surface of your candle and it is ready to be relit.

2. When lighting your candle for the first time, please ensure that you burn the candle for four hours to prevent tunnelling. Candles have a memory (it's an actual thing!) so if you burn them as advised then it will prevent tunneling and ensure your candle burns at optimum performance from first light to last ember.

3. Never burn your candle for more than four hours.

4. Light your candle in a room or area of your home that is free from drafts or other air flows e.g. radiators. Also, ensure that your candle is on a level, fire resistant surface and 10cm away from any other object.

5. Always keep your candle out of reach of children and pets.

6. Never extinguish burning candles with water.

7. If your candle is sooting or has a very high flame, extinguish and trim the wick before relighting.

An extra note on Wooden Wick Care;

Wooden wicks are a completely natural product so do take more care than a synthetic wick but they look and sound amazing so are well worth the extra effort needed to ensure they perform at their best.

Wooden wicks also do not burn the same way each time they are lit as there will be slight variations in wick consistency as it burns. The flame during the first two to three burns may seem slightly low or slightly high but this is completely normal.

The wick may also occasionally burn at ember meaning that the flame is very low. This tends to only happen once during the candles entire burn life but if and when it does happen, you can either let the burn run it's four hour course as it will still smell delightful or you can blow it out, trim the wick with a pair of wick trimmers or scissors, ensuring that no wax drips onto any surface and relight. Taking this action often reignites the ember back into full flame.

 Lastly, enjoy your candle and please get in touch if you have any questions!
